Minerals

What are mineral rights?

Mineral right refer to the ownership of minerals, including oil, natural gas, coal, metals, etc. beneath the surface of a piece of land. When someone owns mineral rights, they have the legal authority to explore, extract, and sell these resources.

Mineral rights can be separated from surface rights, meaning that the owner of the land may not necessarily own the rights to the minerals underneath it. This can lead to complex legal arrangements, such as situations where one party owns the land but another party owns the mineral rights and has the right to extract resources.

Mineral rights can be bough, sold, leased, or inherited independently of surface rights, and they can be a valuable asset in areas where there are significant mineral deposits. These rights are often subject to government regulations and environmental considerations to ensure responsible extraction and land use.
